What are some things that are wildly expensive for what they are/do?

I'll start with icemakers. Why in the FUCK are those things like $2,500? I also understand they're about as reliable as boats and snowmobiles.

-Lawyer fees
-Women's hand bags

Wait, excuse me, a state of the art, space grade, small batch, premium cork, sustainably harvested exotic hardwood reel seat, handmade by artisans in Vermont and shit yo, and you can get it customized with up to 20 characters of text for another fifty bucks.

A smartphone itself is an incredible value. Thinking you need the latest and greatest every year and tossing last year's model has a lot of marketing/consumerism and vanity at play. Different conversation.

I don't disagree on lawyers. I'd say 98% of the time they're either worth way less or way more than the cost.

Child support. $1,200 a month for one 16 year-old so his mom can sit at home all but twenty hours per week, live in a nicer house and drive a nicer car than you and still tell the kid every time he needs car insurance, new basketball shoes, or a laptop, “Ask your dad.” Oh, and you also get to spend every other weekend with him, unless Mom decides they are “too busy”.

Water costs $1/bottle when it used to be free/bottle

In the US at least, I think the obvious answer is insurance.
