WVU preseason 5 but may end up being top 3.
3 Kansas
6 Baylor
16 WVU
22 Tech
No other team receiving votes.
Texas @ Baylor is on ESPN2 this week but they have WVU at KU ( two top 20 teams ) on ESPN+. Seems like a miss.

It's all a part of the conference ploy to get people signed up for ESPN+.

Pretty sure that was also an ESPN+ game from the day the schedule was out. At that point, there's not one person who predicted this game would be #3 vs #16, lol.

No, probably not.
But not having preseason no. 2 KU's opening conference game on ESPN/ESPN2 still seems like a miss.

Wonder how big a factor the NFL playoffs played in that decision too? Seems like their games on playoff weekend are always TBD time and channel. ESPN knew they had this game from the start and also an NFL game so they just assigned it to ESPN+ no matter the time to get around whatever time the NFL decided that game was going to be.

The KU AD has openly stated that as the flagship Big 12 basketball team that KU will be used to try to drive subscriptions to ESPN+. I am surprised we dont have more games there this season.

Yep. We're all already ESPN subscribers. They arent trying to put their best games on their biggest platform; they are trying to generate additional revenue by putting bigger games on the platform with the fewest current subscribers. Who the hell is going to sign up for ESPN+ to watch Texas and Baylor?

Which is bullshit considering they only ever told us that nonconference basketball games would be going up. I'm just glad I was able to get 3 games out of my one month on ESPN+.

I'd rather pay five, ten, twenty dollars a month if it means that money is trickling out of college basketball. I'm not sure this is the case or not -- it may just be ESPN looking for more avenues for growth.

Yeah, that's my only issue with it and a it's a legitimate gripe.
Long needs to address that directly.

$10 says the answer is "that's what we were told" because there's really no rebuttal to that. The network likely has in the contract that they can choose whatever games they want.

That sounds pretty likely. Long doesn't seem like a guy that ever wants to deliver bad news.

Meh, the tech is kinda wonky right now but whatever. If the most annoying part of my day is that my basketball game cuts to a red screen a few times then life is pretty good.
There's more things out there to be bothered by. Oh, and now that I think about it, I am going to the game tomorrow anyways so I dont have to worry about the feed quality.

I don't really understand the "meh" part, and the rest doesn't seem to be directed to my post at all, so I'll just say enjoy the game!

Just directed at the general complaints about the quality of the ESPN+ fees, which isnt very good yet. They'll get it figured out well enough over the next 2 years or so. Tech fixes cost money, which is why they have to drive as many eyeballs to new subscriptions as possible. The early subscribers are funding the technological upgrades.

Give me all access ESPN for 12 bucks a month.
I get everything ESPN ( ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, News, Plus, Ocho ).
I'd be in.

Yes. Boring game. Neither has an offense that makes me think they can top KU over an 18 game Big 12 slate.
