ESPN's Outrage Machine

I have to wonder, how come ESPN.com is plastered with this story and why isn't every talking head on the network being trotted out onto Sports Center to talk about criminal charges, arresting this player, and kicking him out of the game? Did they already blow their wad on that narrative a couple weeks ago?

This is a real fight. KU-kstate had a weak basketball fight.

So a couple 2 game suspensions and a mandatory lecture on principled women's empowerment?

I don’t condone this. I thought they were going to the locker room.

Embarrassing that they landed more punches than our squad.

That fight is 10 times worse that what happened in Lawrence. What a joke. Silivio's 12-game suspension was based on what could have happened and not what actually happened.

I was right on.
https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports ... 032471.php

"TSU players Jekalen Jones, Niya Mitchell, and Tamaria White were suspended for two games. Ciani Cryor and Britnee Gabriel received one-game suspensions.

Alabama State players Kaeani Berry, Zomoria Clark, and Aniyah Smith) received two-game suspensions and Taylor Aikerson and Dereseia Randle were suspended one game."

Fuckingdoublestandardbullshit.
Almost 1/2 the season for picking up a chair.

Picking up a chair during a fight is worse than not picking up a chair during a fight.

This isn't hard.

DMac got 2 games. Same as these girls. None of them picked up a chair.

I'm not saying I agree with all of it, but blaming anyone but SDS is not something I'm willing to do. He made that choice. Even Self blamed him and is considering suspending him longer than the mandatory 12 games.

Plus, we are better not trying to force SDS on the floor for 10mpg even though he doesn't deserve it. We've got our 2 bigs. And now we've got Braun rising quickly. Our rotation is solid and it doesn't include or need SDS this year.

How about the other guys who got 8 and 3 games for not picking up a chair?

8 games seemed pretty fair for a guy coming off the bench who wasn't even active for the game, right?

Fair doesn't always have to mean equal.

And I think it's fair that when you're high profile like KU and on national TV that can play a role, as opposed to a small school girls game.

Coming off the bench and not even active for the game is more damning, not less.

More damning than picking up a chair? NO.

More damning than the girls fight? Yes... and that's why he got 8 games and not 2 like them.

I think it's perfectly fine to disagree on length of suspensions and severity of actions.

What I think is immature is the constant shifting of blame and saying "well so-and-so did this" or "but they started it". The inability to take responsibility for our own team's actions is sad. Silvio took responsibility for his in that letter he released on social media and I was proud of him for doing so, when it appears a lot of our fans are unable to do the same.
