Jeff Long 3rd in Big 12. OU AD 1, kstate AD is 2 and Iowa State AD 4.

I'm not sure it's a bottom-half job. 1/3 of it runs itself. 1/3 of it has an incredibly low bar. No one gives a shit about the other 1/3.

Right now the job security is completely tied to the 1/3rd that most fans don't give a shit about.

You basically get 2 hires to make 1 good one and the pool of candidates is as slim as it gets.

Maybe we're just not aligned on what a good job is, then. You get a ton of money for at least five cushy years, and a resume line that ensures you can be a small-school AD or Power 5 assistant AD afterwards.

Yeah I'm ranking relative to the other AD jobs that would seemingly be on par.

Just not a lot of comfort and security when you're tied to dead weight. Zenger is at the University of New Haven and the previous 2 never got back into athletics. It's just a risk that a sitting AD isn't likely going to take.
