There are about 15.3M millionaires in this great country and about 800 billionaires. If we predict that 65% of them voted in favor of their own tax cuts in this election that would give President funnel lips about 10M of those votes. That leaves another 60M votes cast with an eye to save the tax cuts for the top 2%.
I may have mentioned this before, but in case you didn't read it then, I really kinda almost need those tax cuts. Seriously, my incentive to build an Empire and to just make more money in general will be greatly diminished without tax cuts. I will have a harder time getting all of those marching band uniforms dry cleaned without my tax cuts. It brought tears to my eyes on erection day to see the outpouring of love from the rubes for my tax cuts.

I think Merica has always basically been a capitalist economy augmented with socialist policies to make it worthwhile for more than just the oligarchs. I think there’s been a swinging of the pendulum back and forth over the years, which is healthy.
In the past 40 years or so though, we’ve seen that pendulum continue to swing toward the direction of the oligarchs, while many other demographics have stagnated and struggled. I think it’s time to stop doubling down on the trickledown experiment, and time for a healthy swing back in the workingman’s direction.
We’ve also seen socialist policies aplenty, but mostly just for the oligarchs and corporations. Let’s give tax breaks to those who need it the most, not the least.
But the problem is, socialism has become a boogeyman word, even though it would likely benefit average Joes a lot more than capitalist policies and political agendas leveled as “pro-business” (back when the GOP even had agendas lol)
Bear in mind, “the middle class” is a socialist idea. Its a bummer, but if someone proposed the policies that created the middle class in the first place, they’d be labeled as radicals today. But also bear in mind, if it were entirely up to the capitalists, most of us would still be working 90 hour weeks for 5 cents an hour. Oh, and you want compensation if the machine at work rips your arm off? Sorry pal, rub some dirt on it and get back to work. Do you want this job or don’t ya?
Empower communities, not just oligarchs. I hold the ideal that any American willing to work full time should not have to live in poverty.
And the 1 percenters will still be just fine. There will still be plenty of incentive to innovate, and plenty of wealth to be had.
The working man needs to learn to stop voting against his own economic interests, and stop vilifying economic policies that would benefit himself.

I think you have an overly optimistic (possibly wildly unrealistic) view of what true socialism achieves.

You’d prefer to double down on having it be owned and regulated by a small handful of greedy 1 percenters?

and I’m not advocating for a complete overthrow of capitalism, just for enough socialist policies peppered in to make it worthwhile for everyone.
Let’s change the corporate model to benefit all the stakeholders, not just the shareholders.
