Been watching since 86...this is the worst team I have ever seen Kansas field. The End.

Roy had some stinkers in the late 90s and early 2000s.
Now this is easily the worst team of the Self era.

We’re actually not a terrible team. We’ve had a brutal schedule and losing Dotson last season and not being able to replace him really hurt this year.

This team would smash '15 and '19.
'06 maybe looked the worst at points of the season when Steven Vinson was our best guard.
In the end, I bet this team is also better than '05.

Perspective
Team will probably finish 3rd in the league and will get a four or five seed. That is an off year for us but most teams would kill for that.
Strange off-season. Self struck out recruiting the kind of dynamic playmaker this team lacks and the two returning ‘book ends’ have, for the most part been disappointing.

There's been more than a few teams in the last 35 years who wouldn't have beat Creighton, Tech, and West Virginia with Tscheibwe.
Lack of a consistent go-to guy doesn't equal worst team since 86. I would take this team against the teams from 99, 00, and 19. Probably even 05 and 14.
Accept the single digit loss to a clear top 2 team in the country when their AA player couldn't miss and step back from the ledge.

Self needs to work harder and get creative.
He has turned Wilson into a jump shooter and look what has happened. 17 total points the last 3 games.
Has to swallow pride and play Garrett fewer minutes at Point at the expense of Garrett himself or McCormack.
We went small (5 out) early this season and played some of our best basketball.
Now, we are back to force feeding it inside and letting guys like Lightfoot take 8 shots in a game.
Who are we? I think Self knows this. He’s trying to force something that we ain’t!
Get your 3 best shooters shots. Och. Braun. Wilson. Harris is the guy to get them the shots...
Figure it out. We are better than this!

I hate to disagree...but this team has no one 0 to go to. MAYBE I could give the 89 team of Roy...but they already knew they weren't playing for anything. But that team was better than this. You have Braun and Ochai go to the corner late in the game and just stand...players need to MOVE make the defense REACT...they stood. Not seeing any kind of situation where like a few years ago that Self said something to the effect...We just need to step on their necks and put the game away. No go to guy on this squad and very very very very soft.

I agree with most of this.
I am wondering if he looks towards Enaruna.
We're going nowhere if there are no offensive adjustments.

This team would beat 4-5 teams in the last 20 years. 05, 06, probably 14 and definitely 15.

Jalen showed some aggressiveness tonight. Most in last few games.
He’s so much better as the 5 guard big guy. He’s not a stretch 4.

I think DMac needs to be a key piece, but not thee key piece.
Don’t force it to him. Just let him roam around setting picks and getting boreds. If he shoots that fadeaway, it’s off a lose ball, rather than a try to pass it to him in traffic. But clean up junk more than force fadeaways
Either way, Och and Braun need to fucking launch

DMac is too inconsistent. No inside presence. The defense is not NEARLY as good. As far as Och and Braun...they are set shooters. They don't move with the ball and shoot with good percentages.

As Kansas fans it is very unusual to feel that this year there are a few teams that if we play them and they play close to their best then even our best may not be enough (baylor being one of them). Butler is legit and couldn't miss tonight. They just have a better roster this year.
We aren't great. We aren't terrible.
With our schedule even if we lose 7 or 8 games we will still get a 3 or 4 seed.
