Well, I'm disappointed in this one. I know plenty of fans gave up on him but, damn.

Wouldn't surprise me if he goes close to home like Tulsa. He'd kill it at a mid-major. He just couldn't shoot well enough here.
But man, I loved his pace when he was in.

Matt Tait did say on Twitter he was told this morning Thompson was headed to Tulsa. Makes sense.

This one hurts. Because of Bill's relationship with him, he got hurt and then Kansas went on a cold spell.
He just couldn't get his shot going. And Harris passed him as backup ball handler.

Add another 5* guard that didn't work out very well here.

Tyty Washington will be the only person that can make me feel okay about this.

Honestly, seems like a mistake. Have patience, young man. Hope all is well between him and Coach Self given their prior relationship.

So no matter what, we have 2 scholarships open. Depending on Agbaji and Wilson, it could be as many as 4. I don't see Wilson staying in the draft. Agbaji is more of a coin flip so 2-3 spots open.

Entire 2020 class is gone.
Grimes and Thompson both 5 star guards, both transferred home after 1 year.
Self just doesn't do well with 5-star non-PGs. But you get him a good PG (TyTy) and he'll have a dominant offense.

This is me panicking but perhaps some of these guys know that the hammer is coming down - and Self is getting temporary fill-ins/transfers for the gap year.

Who knows but Mike Vernon is on Twitter talking about how Self is fired up about next season.
Also thinks the next assistant will be a young recruiter.

What constitutes a 5* or a Burger Boy these days? Sorry, but BT didn't look the part of either if you ask me... Not saying he's not (or can't be) a great player, but I'd expect a 5* Burger Boy to make a way bigger impact than what Thompson did. And please, spare me the wrist thing. The season was half over at that point... Struggled as a ball-handler, weird release from 3pt. He needs a lot of work, and work that I'm not sure he gets through consistent playing time as a Jayhawk. Would he start for us next year? No. No, he would not...

He struggled - I might say even more than Grimes struggled.
There were flashes of what he did - but that three point release was wonky - and he was a pretty thin kid.
