Scientists in the 1970s at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology predicted the fall of society. Using the LtG model, the fall of society will take place around 2040. The 2100s will be comparable to the 1900s in terms of the world’s population, industrial output, food and resources.
Any chance we can change the course of this tsunami?...

To yr Q: given our collective nature as a species, demonstrated over millennia, I'd bet on "No".

If you and I keep moving furniture in this heat, we will die before the worst of it. Something to consider.

As long as I only have to move one piece of furniture I'm good. You proved you were a god on Saturday.

We moved furniture for my daughter in Lawrence on Saturday. She is on the second floor of a building on Mass Street now, so we had to climb a winding wooden stair without touching the "about to fall over handrails". We got a heavy table to the bottom of the stairs and my daughter ran out of gas and almost puked. Defix to the rescue!
I leave for the Empire tomorrow morning to drive across scorching western KS. When I get out of bed on Wednesday morning, the temperature will be in the 50's. Dok is gonna party with the big kids again Thursday night, hopefully he doesn't wake up with magic marker "eyebrows" this time.

I should have this land deal wrapped up this week or early next week.
I need to get out there and piss on my corners.

...The moral of the story, Herrington told The Guardian, is that business as usual — an approach that’s worsened global climate change and largely failed to mitigate the resulting weather disasters — will likely lead to economic and societal collapse...

by not lamenting a drop in birth rates, and thinking it’s indicative of a problem that needs fixing...that’s at least a start

Recently released official U.S. birth data for 2020 showed that births have been falling almost continuously for more than a decade.

Randy was advocating that people dying unnecessarily from covid was a good thing and could help with overpopulation. He also had some very nazi-adjacent takes on thinning the heard being good because it removes weak genes from the population, something something, men are soft, something something, when asthmatics die it's ok cause they're weak, somethig something.
But it got overlooked cause Lobster came in as a sock and had a meltdown.

This could be said of a lot of threads here.
At least, the ones that Illanoy didn't ruin with 30 pages of arguing in circles.

The dudes saying some of the dumbest craziest shit I've ever seen posted here and no one besides me seems to be reacting to it.
This place goes bonkers when Illannoy posts something dumb.
It goes radio silent when randy does. Is there something I don't know?
