2022 CBB Season
Early Bracketology dropped a couple days ago.
Piggybacking on the semi-recent discussion regarding how good the Big 12 is:
1 seeds: KU, UT
2 seed: Baylor
Best ACC seed: Duke as a 3.

Re: 2022 CBB Season
Will DMac or Ochai be more of the face of KU basketball this season?
( saw DMac in ESPN bracketology graphic )

Re: 2022 CBB Season
I don't think it'll be him.
You've got two seniors who have spent their entire career at Kansas. It'll be one of them.
You're gonna see more of DMac and Ochai's face - at least until January - then it could be Remy or even Jalen Wilson, depending on who steps up.

and as you allude to, it may very well be different guys throughout the season
if i had to pick one, though, i might actually be inclined to go with JW...for no other reason than i don’t think we’ve really seen his best, and i’m not sold on Och and DMac doing much more than they did last year
Re: 2022 CBB Season
Well it might be different guys during the season - but i'm talking about the 'brand' or face of the team.
Unless Remy takes complete control or Jalen Wilson dominates, then the default, I think, will be DMac and Ochai.
All that said, I think DMac ends the season with the best Crimscore ( i.e. the best contributor ).
Remy ain't scoring 19 PPG here.

Re: 2022 CBB Season
Yeah, Jalen may have the most upside, average hops notwithstanding.
If he gets some Js and drives to fall a little more consistently, he could be a star. And the thing about freshmen becoming sophomores is, they tend to become more consistent.

Re: 2022 CBB Season
Hope it’s Remy in the sense that he’s already accomplished things that none of our other guys have. If he improves, watch out.
He’s also the lead guard and our most well known player to CBB media.

Re: 2022 CBB Season
Yeah, Remy already has a lotta name recognition, and not just cuz of the sauce.

"Hope it’s Remy in the sense that he’s already accomplished things that none of our other guys have."
But our guys have won.
Zona State was 11-14 last year.
And Remy took over 14 shots a game.
Closest to that on our team was Ochai at over 11 a game.

Re: 2022 CBB Season
Weird.
Then why would ESPN pick DMac for their header graphic?
I'd argue Ochai is the most well known player of the bunch.

Re: 2022 CBB Season
Because they have a picture of him in a KU uniform that fit in their graphic? they put some random Duke sophomore on there so it doesn't appear they went with a "most well known" strategy.

Somewhat proving this:
"You've got two seniors who have spent their entire career at Kansas. It'll be one of them.

Re: 2022 CBB Season
Do you have any clue who the Duke player is on the graphic? I had to look up their roster and match the number on his jersey. Some kid who was a freshman last year that averaged 7 points a game.
Don't overthink it. It's just a random graphic.
Re: 2022 CBB Season
We have a number of the guys who may be the face of the program this season, but not necessarily a star-in-waiting like we may have had in previous years
Re: 2022 CBB Season
KU rarely has a "face of the program" in any season, which is part of what I like about Self's style.

Re: 2022 CBB Season
Wrong. ESPN is clearly trying to tell us something by not having pics up of Paolo Banchero in a Duke jersey and Remy Martin in a KU jersey from last season.twocoach wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 2:05 pmDo you have any clue who the Duke player is on the graphic? You all can be snarky if you want.
My guess ( it is a guess and a question ) still stands.
You'll see Ochai and DMac in more media features than Remy or Jalen.
