Being a landlord must be a terribly stressful and unfulfilling job...which I say because nearly every landlord I ever had was a complete dick.

I’ve paid my rent on time to him every month for 4 years straight. The one month it was a day late was in April 2020 when the shit was hitting the fan and the narrative was, might be delays in the mail. Landlord texted, did you send rent? I didn’t get it yet. I replied, yes I sent it but apparently it’s delayed in the mail. If you’d like I could cut a new check and re-send, Venmo, drive down and hand a check to you at your doorstep in Boulder, whatever works. He said, no worries, then I’m sure it’ll show. Next day, the check arrived. Going forward I even offered to send rent some way other than the mail if it was a concern to him. All good.

The place is clean too!

At the very least, I’m not a fan of the suspense. “We need to talk because…_______” would be nice.

Is he raising rent again? Probably.

Am I getting kicked out just cuz? Maybe.

Is he finally fixing that patio door that’s so hard to open and shut? Doubtful.

Is it something innocuous like “I was riding my bike and couldn’t get down this one trail cuz trees are blown over?” That’s possible too, cuz he previously requested a meeting just to say that.

A newer age landlord problem are these endless leasing corporations that pay kids fresh off of a useless bachelor's degree $19,000 to manage a building of 100+.
