March Madness 23

Post by pdub »

Do we really want the Midwest?

I’d rather be the 1 in NYC and have Baylor, Marquette and Indiana as my 2, 3 and 4 than play in cursed Sprint with Zona, Tennessee and Xavier.

Don’t care who. If we (Dajuan) play well, nobody can beat us.

#1 overall and Midwest is what I want.

I don't believe that KC is cursed. I'd rather be in a familiar environment.

There are going to be so many upsets this year that trying to project out what region you want based on who could be an opponent in the 3rd or 4th game is close to pointless.

As someone who will attend no Midwest games, I don't care if KU plays in the Midwest.
I do care for those who would like to attend games in Des Moines and Kansas City.
No guarantee right now (6:35am) we know who plays where.
Sure, I'd also rather have Baylor, Marquette, Indiana, as a 2, 3, 4 but as we both know, anything can happen in the tournament.

My dream possible/potential matchups.....

First game - Don't care
Second game - Illinois (because I want to beat them) but I do think if Illinois isn't an 8 or 9 they MIGHT surprise and win a couple.
Third game - Whatever Cinderella media darling 12 or 13 seed.
Fourth game - Whatever Cinderella media darling 10 or 11 seed.
Fifth game - Whatever Cinderella media darling non 1, 2, 3, or 4 seed.
Sixth game - Duke

If it was just 6 random teams - in order of who I would like to beat most....
Illinois
Duke
Kentucky
Indiana
Houston
Alabama

That’d mean Duke made it to a Final Four.

If it’s a realistic scenario of when we can beat Duke, let it be the Sweet 16.

Duke is definitely finding their stride at the right time. Lots of talent. What seems to be good coaching. They've turned around what was starting to look like a disastrous season.

I hope they lose whenever but the best to me would be if they lose to Kansas in the championship game.

All the bracket peeps still have KU as 1 overall and in Midwest region.

Don’t let the last game fool you. Entire body of work is still fucking good.

This is the correct March/April attitude.

You can keep saying that over and over again, but that is NOT what that post said.

You're frustrated with KU basketball and college hoops in general. For reasons I understand. Frustrated with planned improvements to AFH. Hate NIL. Not a fan of an incoming player because he mentioned NIL as a reason for KU being appealing. All valid feelings.

I think maybe some of that frustration is carrying over and causing you to continue this weekly campaign to constantly point out our deficiencies whenever people have positive and realistic outlooks about our chances and the rest of college basketball.

You point out our flaws while totally ignoring other teams flaws. When not a single person here has ever said we are perfect.

We get it. You think 4 or 6 or 8 teams are better. Maybe you're right. Maybe you're not. In college basketball, due to the format, we will never know. It's all subjective about who is truly the best and the tournament usually does very little to settle the argument.

It's okay for some of us to focus on positives since the negatives ain't changing this season. Especially since you're someone who gets ban happy for any slight negativity when you're on the positive side of things.

All good though. I've been guilty of "keeping people in check" when I have not thought the team was as good as others around here too.

I just said we aren’t a top 4 team but we can still win six in a row.
My god dude.

Current odds to win the national championship:

Houston +550
Alabama +750
Kansas +850
Purdue +1000
UCLA +1400
Arizona +1500
Uconn +1600
Gonzaga +1800
Texas +1800
Marquette +2200
Baylor +2200
Duke +2900
Tennessee +2900

I think the guys who set the odds and brackets have a better idea of who is a top 4 team than PDub. But opinions are allowed, albeit overrated.

Bama probably going to be 1 overall, but they’ll pick South. Kansas will likely be the 2 overall and in MW.
