(Melville brushes his shoulders off)
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?
Re: Orcas
As long as it's rich people in yachts, who cares?

theure dolphin family, very smart animals. Doesn't shock me that they'd eventually strike back.....my concern isn't for the yachts, its for the humans reaction to the attacks. Im guessing it won't be in the best interest of the animals.

Re: Orcas
so, there’s a theory floating around that this behavior, along with seal attacks on people in South Africa may be due to brain damage induced by the toxins that are generated during algal blooms.
there is a lot of data suggestive of a regime shift in the water column, where coccolithophores (which give the ocean its blue hue) are being replaced by cyanobacteria and dinoflagellates (resulting in a notable “greening” of the water in some areas).
dinoflagellates are largely responsible for the algal blooms that produce all sorts of toxins, some of which are responsible for seafood/shellfish poisonings (saxitoxin), and some can mess which the brain chemistry of marine mammals (domoic acid).
3 guesses as to why the regime change is happening…

Re: Orcas
speculation that an orca survived a boat collision as has been teaching other orcas to attack them, that has spread across the globe through the different pods.
scientist have observed adult orcas teaching their children to be aggressive towards boats.
which is all kind of awesome, except...somebody is gonna start shooting them or harpooning them etc. Which, is not so awesome.
