Would we (you) be sad? Nervous? Relieved? What?

I think I’d be most PDub about it (meh).

Self never figured out how to play defense with Hunter in the game.

Also, I prefer Juan having a center he can throw lobs to.

I think we'd have been better this year with Udeh/Ejiofor.

As long as it wouldn't keep Bidunga from coming, I'd like to have Hunter back.

Self can't do the impossible. Hunter is unplayable on defense because he is so slow. He does fine 1 on 1 on the block, but pull him out and put him in the pick and roll and he's useless

And the way KU plays help defense, hunters slow mobility puts the whole team out of position trying to help him recover

That sums up why we gave up so many open shots all season

I hope Self learned his lesson and never recruits another center that can't rotate on defense. The number one job of a center is to anchor the defense and protect the rim. Hunter doesn't do that

I am totally flummoxed to hear people say that. Not necessarily because Hunter is the best Big ever, but especially since neither Udeh/Ejiofor distinguished themselves this year.

We scored 9pts in like 16min of the biggest game of the year.

We'd have sucked even worse with Udeh and Zuby, but we'd have been better on defense. So instead of getting blown out 85 to 65 we'd get blown out 75 to 55.

Self needs a shot blocker.

This thread is a bit harsh.

Dude wasn't all we hoped, but he put in some blood sweat and tears for crimson and blue. Good on him for that.

Maybe even 65 to 45.

We'd have been less bad on interior defense. Still awful at guarding 3s. And on offense we would have had trouble scoring 50 a game.

You saw tears? I must have missed the tears.

Maybe the title. But not how I phrased it.

This dude is one of least likeable Jayhawks (at least to me) I can remember. For me, he rivals Morris twins in that regard.

Vick, Tharpe, Greene all honorable mention.

I don’t but we probably woulda generally had the same season.

No B12 title.
No B12 tourney title.
1st weekend NCAA exit.

And we’d have two upperclassmen bigs next season.

And not have a giant douchebag on our team.

That’s the kicker here. Short term potential success at what cost?

It’s hard to say/determine, but yeah, this is why so many of us are at least slightly souring on the college game now.

Fortunately, KU was (mostly) insulated from the one and done era.

Our worst seasons have been trying to plug a transfer or freshman as our top guy.

In order from worst to least worst

1. Dedric year
2. Wiggins year
3. Hunter year

Yeah, but I would like to think they would have progressed better under Self and staff.

Pretty sad seeing so many supposed KU fans shitting all over a second team AA player. Not his fault at all that KU didn't have depth to meet preseason #1 rankings/expectations. He did what was expected of him-scoring and rebounding. Just did not have the shooters around him to make a great team. Yes, his defense was lacking a bit, but Self must have thought the offensive skills and rebounding were worth it.
