Re: Civil War-Movie
One of the most intense movies I have ever watched.
The battle scenes were the most realistic too. I have never heard gunfire sound 100% real in a movie.
The loss of humanity was alarming

I watched the trailer. I'm thinking maybe I will watch it on Election night in November.
As far as your hearing gunfire sound real, I might have freaked out.
Why? Come to the theater in my hood and it just might be as real as it gets. Last night was a shit show outside the theatre at around 9:00pm.

I love Kirsten Dunst. I hate the idea of her being cast as a journalist. That's tragedy enough for me.

Yeah, I don't envy you in that regard but I thank you for doing what you did for ALL of us law abiding citizens.Overlander wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 1:06 amI have heard a sufficient amount of live fire in my lifeRainbowsandUnicorns wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2024 6:40 pm I watched the trailer. I wish there were more of yous and less of thems in this country.
Maybe I will go see the movie when I am on vacation - and then you and I and whoever else sees it can have a discussion about it. Seems it is a movie that makes you think about what ifs - that just might not be as far fetched as we would hope they would be.

This country, right now, is a powder keg.
And yes, this movie isn’t as far-fetched as we hope it is.

Re: Civil War-Movie
What’s the gist of this?
I get that it’s some modern-dystopia civil war.
But like who’s against whom? And what is everyone fighting for?

I'm sure someone would explain it to you but history shows you're not to adept at understand the nuance of war scenarios.

Re: Civil War-Movie
The director went to great lengths to not display which side started the civil war.
The movie presents a President who forced a third term on the country, has press members murdered in public, and otherwise proved to be evil.
The plot of having Texas and California form an alliance to take over the government further makes it difficult to understand the how’s.

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

I haven't seen it, but figured it was based on a MAGA like dystopian killing fantasy.

Not at all.
I don’t see how anyone could come out of this movie feeling like Americans fighting Americans is an option

Re: Civil War-Movie
The basic idea is a president takes a third term and doesn't relinquish power, the people revolt. But beleive it or not the movie isn't really about that, and it's kind of vague and less important
The movie really just follows a group of 4 journalists who are trying to get shots of the front line of combat, and gives an incredibly realistic first hand POV of what it would be like to live through a civil war
