I don’t know exactly what breaks a hike from a walk but if you could do it in flip flops it’s not a hike.

Have you told that to the people who hike in flip flops?

If you hike in flip flops, ie you are climbing over rocks and going up steep elevation, theres a 99 percent chance it is your first hike or you are doing it for attention.

1. my father in law had passed before I ever met him in person
2. I hike most weekends with a group of friends and our dogs. Niagara Gorge Trail to Whirl Pool (no dogs allowed on that one). Next weekend will be in Alleghany Forest somewhere- I rarely pick.
3. At my age, a lot. 80% ? In this day, you know enough about someone before going on a date to know if there is a chance in hell of making a match. And then, enough reasonable maturity to know it takes more than one date to really know somebody. A two-date minimum is a policy of many I know.
4. cheesecake
5. Star Trek the New Generation.

A core childhood memory of mine was when my brother was babysitting for a couple hours. He must have been 10 or 11. My parents had decided to move our TV downstairs but hadn’t bothered setting it up yet.
Together we moved the tv out of the box and got it working ( bunny ears - we didn’t get cable until I was a senior in high school ) and got to watch a new episode of Star Trek the Next Generation that night.

1. No. I had 2 FIL’s, Same wife. I guess one would be colloquially called a ‘bonus’ (gross terminology IMO) FIL by many people younger and a few people the same age or older than myself. I kinda wish biological FIL woulda pulled out/or MIL woulda swallowed.
Just kidding, I actually think my ex-wife is a lovely human, just not for me.
2. Shawnee Mission Park last hike on a trail. I walk the levee trail in Lawrence a lot. Love those backyards that face the trail. Houses mostly look like shit from front, but back view reveals wonder!
3. I dunno. I’m about 50/50. I’ve had sex with more on a first date than I’ve gone on a second date. It’s very transactional, and when I actually think about it, the Petrie dish is kinda icky, as there are less specimens adding to the culture in the dish. Whatever, though, post-divorce, and still decently attractive to opposite sex, I’m jumping through this hoop as much as I’m allowed.
And on this topic, mostly as I’ve had too much coffee today, and my mind is racing a bit, it amazes me how fucking shallow a great deal of JoCo ex-wives are. And many of them seem content on finding someone who checks most of the same boxes as their ex-husband. It’s quite comical and easy to spot. Trad, if you reading this, I suppose this is my inner Morgan’s coming out. Who, by the way, I’ve shared a couple man-dates with in the past year, as we both lost long time pets. We didn’t put out, though.
4. A if my sister made it. She’s an amazing creator of cheesecake, she should truly sell them. The mint ice cream if not. Specifically from Baskin Robbin’s, with one of their chemical tasting brown cones. Haven’t had one of those in forever, but I can smell BR just thinking about it.
5. Friends. My cameo is on a date with Aniston. We end up in bed at end of episode. You read about our relationship through online ‘news’ sources.

1. a. Yes, the world's best.
b. Yes. 100% A farmer from north-central Missouri, fought in WWII, and could build and fix anything. Very quiet, but he was paying attention. Roofed his own house in his 70's with help from his son and grandsons. (It had a pitch of only ~ 10% and was only one story high, but still.) One of the compliments from my wife that I remember and value most was once when she told me how nice it was to have a husband who was handy and could fix and do so many things around the house. Moi? Are you blind, or kidding? For years I had felt as tho she was probably comparing me to her father in that regard, and likely not favorably...
2. Oscar Scherer State Park a couple of years ago. (If a trail can be ridden on a bike, I'm much more likely to do that, than hike it.)
3. I've been single for just over 3 years but haven't dated in > 30, so I have no idea. But, somewhere between Dr P and B2L, I'd guess.
4. C Chocolate cup cake
5. G The Office
Wish Morgans would pay us a visit.

1.
a. No
b. I liked my father-in-law, who passed away about 8 years ago. We were a closer family unit overall back when he was around so yeah, I'd rate him over 81.5/100. He had his issues but was overall a good man who would do anything for his kids and grandkids.
2. A few years ago when our summer vacation was to Colorado. But I mountain bike regularly on trails that other people hike on, does that count?
3. Probably around 20%
4.
c. Chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting
d. Mint chocolate chip ice cream
g. Butterscotch pudding
h. Sliced mango
i. Salted caramel macaroon
5.
c. Friends
f. Cheers
g. The Office
