Bluesky
Re: Bluesky
Joined Bluesky a few days ago. Very white bread, so far.
I couldn't take Trad judging me every time I posted a link to twitter any longer.

you’re welcome
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Re: Bluesky
i actually posted about this (recent migration away from twitter) on the poli board
seems “journalists” and newspapers (are they still called that?) are increasingly ceasing to post content on twitter

Re: Bluesky
It is a lot like Twitter was 15 years ago. This is a welcome thing.
Re: Bluesky
It's also much less throttled - there's a 'c' word out there that would move this to another thread - by the behind-the-scenes functionality. Which means that, at least for now, it's not a wretched griftopolis.
Re: Bluesky
I signed up the other day.
Poked around a bit but didn’t find anything too interesting…yet
Also didn’t notice a way to search for photos and videos…maybe again yet
But otherwise just generally very excited for whatever will be the next big social media platform. And watching the other ones perish.
With the irony being, the next big social media platform would do itself and its users a favor to pretty much be just like what the social media platforms before they started sucking

Re: Bluesky
The Portland Press Herald ( where I get my mid level local news - my even more local news I get from BUD's FB group and reddit ) has plans to abandon Twitter and post exclusively on Bluesky.
I think well regarded news sources/outlets will follow.

Re: Bluesky
Is there really supposed to be anything interesting? Maybe I'm not making this point well, but kinda the whole point should be that the content is what the users bring to the table?BiggDick wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 9:42 am I signed up the other day.

As opposed to the content that the site itself amplifies or even creates?
Re: Bluesky
that's a good point.
I guess one of the first things I did was go search for KU basketball and Tyson fight highlights, and didn't find much of either.
but yea, I guess it's up to me to curate the feed I want now.

Re: Bluesky
zing!
would you rather curate for me?
(so far all I've followed are NPR and NYT.)

Re: Bluesky
Frankly, just the unasked-for stealth feed-switching (from the somewhat-juiced Following to the hilariously scale-thumbed For You) would have ... well, this next thing is more of a Pols bored opinion I suppose.
Re: Bluesky
Fish trolling hard today.
Re: Bluesky
There's no trolling at all. I just have a feeling I know what certain people would have said about what happened with X, had it happened in the other direction.
