Just thought we might want a thread to keep track of these.

I was not kidding, in another thread a couple months ago now, when I said that I FULLY expect the Trump administration to take preferential action SPECIFIC to keeping these particular prices (and not other prices) down. For exactly the purpose of this thread.

(And, mind you, this preferential action will be broadly describable as tending toward “socialistic” behavior, but what we have learned is that MAGA is not *actually* dogmatically opposed to that sort of thing.)

maybe but....he did already admit he can't do anything about grocery prices. It was all just a ruse to get elected. People are easily swayed.....and the democrats didn't seize the multiple opportunities they had. So, now, we are reaping what they have sown.

If Trump did take preferential action specific to the price of this thread, even if to the exclusion of so much else but, that would still exhibit more political savvy than Dems did about it, I'm afraid.

(ETA just saw TDub's comment) heck, even if he admits he can't do anything about grocery prices, the simple fact he came out on the campaign trail and exhibited sympathy toward things like grocery prices is still concerningly more political savvy.

but, let's not dwell on that.

Cuz the comment on "socialistic" behavior...I think actual "socialistic" policies tend to actually be pretty popular, among MAGA or otherwise, but for the fact we Americans have been so exhaustively conditioned to boogeyman things like "socialism" anyway.

And fwiw action toward the price of eggs is not necessarily "socialism."

He did take immediate action to raise prescription prices. So there's that. Rescinded Biden's EO.

"My highest priority as president will be to bring down the costs because to that point, look, I know the cost of groceries is too high still," Harris said. "Everyone knows it."

good for her.

But she was second in command in the incumbent administration. Rather than act like inflation wasn't such an issue that happened on their watch, and offer little remedy beyond "well if you elect me then I'll get around to it I swear!," she (and Biden) shoulda just got around to it.

I keep going back to the Dem campaign refrain, exhibited as much on this very board as anywhere, that was like, "well the price of eggs is nbd cuz actually the economy's doing great and if you don't think so maybe you're dum"

Oh I agree with you. But just from our resident MAGAs, it seems like what is desired isn't anything real or meaningful, but simply something to point to.

In other words, I think there's lots and lots of Trump supporters who, if egg prices go to 0.98x and all other staple prices go to 1.25x, will ignore the 1.25x (and the resulting, aggregate 1.248x) and laugh in our faces about egg prices going down.

sure... but those people aren't going to be, nor want to be reintegrated into civil society. The ones that you speak of actively are cheering on this circus, knowing full well what they are doing.

Yesterday the dude (Trump) was talking about people not being able to afford bacon.
In front of multiple billionaires.
After he hosted and others hosted events for him this past week where plenty of bacon was being served.

Michael Kosta (Daily Show) did a semi funny gag regarding egg prices last night.

You would think that the over-the-top symbolism of yesterday would register: the folks were left out in the cold, the favorable elected officials were in the second row (without spouses), and the billionaires were front row and +1.

It's not complicated.

And yet.

Kamala is in California working with Chef Andres preparing meals for fire victims. Purity tests really seemed to miss the mark, eh? Good luck with that insulin. . .

Just checked egg price at Walmart, $4.53/dz.

So, I guess the shot across my bow was intended to keep my freedom of speech in check, got it!

Unfortunately you and your friends should sit down and read up on the topic.

And, while we're at it, the topic of why egg prices are rising at the moment. And, in that context, whether we just installed a government that is more or less likely (than the departing government) to handle that why in a competent way.

Don't be daft. We all know that Biden (and by association Harris) gained immense pleasure cranking that giant EGG PRICES dial in the situation room to 11.

You’ve just proven that freedom of speech is another thing you know nothing about.

Can’t believe you need the definition:
Freedom of Speech

Freedom of speech is the right to express ideas and opinions without government interference, punishment, or retaliation. It's a fundamental right in the United States, protected by the First Amendment of the Constitution.

I realize that a message board can set their own boundaries.

This is exactly what you voted against.
