I was confused by UT. The banner said 31-3 Texas as I scanned through. Yow.

Since the big12 got rid of divisions and had only 10 teams, Texas has finished:

6th, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 7th, 4th, 2nd, 3rd, 4th.
I only came to kick some ass...

Rock the fucking house and kick some ass.

It ain't about winning. It's about making money, and they make lots.

Not sure how it all went down, but it sounds like the PAC were "close" to inviting/adding TCU and Houston before they decided to stay with 12 schools.

Also sounds like the Big XII is considering adding two more schools at some point down the road; Boise St and Memphis being mentioned the most.

You say that a lot (or words to that effect).

I think I get it; but for a lot of coaches, players, boosters, students, admins and fans, it's about winning.

In theory, the money is simply intended to facilitate the winning.

So, winning, really...

Both matter, and both impact the other.

I just meant Texas appeal to the SEC. It was mostly about money, and not so much about winning (as evidenced by the finishes in the big12 they've had recently).

i think the tejas draw is brand and fan support

why would the SEC care how much money they already make?

they get butts in the seats and their fan base travels

Texas has Ohio State+ money/fan base and Purdue's revenue sports teams.

Maybe. Purdue seems pretty successful comparatively though. They are currently Kansas State with an average football team and the Longhorn Network revenue. That was a dismal failure causing them to hit the panic button.

Comparatively, you're probably right. UT's ego is its gift and its curse. Hard to tell how a more humble program would fare with UT's resources, i.e. would they also allow ego to get in the way.

We all know they are making a horrible mistake. But they are too proud to understand. Dictating the terms of competition is what got them where they are. Not any more. They basically begged to get in and are going to be treated like the supplicants they are.

Wishful thinking. They'll probably get treated (and paid) like most of the SEC schools.

Not wistful at all. They are just another schlub now. They are used to being treated like you treat Calipari. Gushing deference and toadying. Handing down edicts for the rest of the conference. Setting up one team networks. Basically selling one blood droplet lab tests and pretending to be Steve Jobs.
