In a series of tweets, SpaceX said that it would learn from the test and that “success comes from what we learn”.

“As if the flight test was not exciting enough, Starship experienced a rapid unscheduled disassembly before stage separation,” it said.

That definitely sounds exciting.
I won’t lol at Elon on this one. It’s the purpose of testing. I think it’s great that the private sector can bear this sort of R+D venture.

I watched live online. It was kinda cool. They did say no matter the outcome, it will be a success. I think they knew it would disassemble. One commentator said that exact phrase a minute after it blew up.

Nothing would have been as exciting to me as if Musk was riding solo when it blew up.
Not that I would have been happy nor am I wishing death upon the man, it just would have been "exciting" to me. Sorry, I guess I am honest to a fault.

One would almost start to think that the only Kraken we will ever see is the one Ray Harryhausen made.

Yeah, I was a little disappointed when the Seattle Kraken introduced whatever the fudge this is as their mascot.

I haven't looked but I fully expect someone has referred to the SpaceX vehicle as Elon's big black __________ exploding. My guess is that played some role in Elon's "excitement" today.

Pretty impressive. Hard to put a negative spin on this no matter what side of the political spectrum you are on

awesome

…when it lifted off Thursday, the nearly 400-foot-tall Starship scattered debris for hundreds of yards like mortar fire, leaving a crater under its launch mount, dents in nearby storage tanks and questions about the extent of the repairs and when SpaceX might be able to attempt to launch again.

The public road that bypasses the site was closed much of the day Friday, making it difficult to assess how widespread the damage was. But videos shared on social media showed a piece of debris slamming into a van several hundred feet away.

Shrapnel also struck the nearby beach and pummeled the shoreline, making it seem like a war zone. Splashes from debris plummeting into wetlands can be seen on multiple sides of the launchpad for 10 or more seconds after the launch. The cloud of dust thrown up by the rocket wafted into communities miles away...
