Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
Bryson Tucker still uncommitted as a top 30 guy. SF
Khani Rooths top 35. PF.
We should be able to get anyone we want with what we have to offer.
And then the following year I want Xavion Stanton. C.

Can a shooter not also dribble? Can McNeeley not do what McCullar and Adams did to "help bring the ball up"?TDub wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 10:19 amor give Juan any help being the ball up
not to mention if "transfer portal shooter" is Nicolas 2.0 that lineup is potentially, decently worse than this years.
I think "can help bring the ball up" is a skill that way more people have than you seem to think. It's not that unique a skill as we saw this season.

Starters:
Hunter Dickinson
Flory Bidunga
Liam McNeeley
Transfer Portal Shooter
Dajuan Harris
Bench Bigs:
KJ Adams
Zach Clemence
Bench Guards/Wings:
One more transfer shooter
Elmarko Jackson
Jamari McDowell
Labaron Philon
Rakease Passmore
I think we're using the last ncaa penalty scholarship here
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
not a ton of 6'9 guys are great dribbling under pressure, there is a reason Magic was special. We saw a tin of unforced turnovers by guys dribbling the ball up and making distribution decisions this year....clearly it's a skill that isn't just as throwaway "everyone can do it" as you're making it sound.twocoach wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 10:23 amCan a shooter not also dribble? I think maybe the Samford game is making this seem like a bigger problem than it was. I don't recall ever even thinking about it as a problem before the Samford game, especially when McCullar was still playing.TDub wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 10:26 amnot a ton of 6'9 guys are great dribbling under pressure, there is a reason Magic was special. Here's the scouting report on McNeeley. He's 6'6"/6'7". Hopefully that helps you feel like he might be able to help out.
https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/scoutin ... -mcneeley/
Liam McNeeley has one of the best combinations of skill and basketball acumen in the national class. He came up the ranks known as a shooter – and for good reason as he has clean mechanics, a compact release, and shot over 40% from behind the three-point line in both the NIBC and EYBL seasons – but he’s far more versatile than just a specialist. He’s particularly adept at coming off screens, making instinctual reads, and then attacking defenders while they are on the move. That can mean movement threes, but it can also mean curls, dribble penetration, and an ability to get downhill at times.
McNeeley has a high natural feel for the game and is a good passer who can also facilitate for others around him. In fact, Montverde frequently made him the featured player of their half-court offense during his junior season and relied on his ability to make decisions with the ball in his hands, not necessarily as a primary ball-handler, but as the first domino in many of their actions. Physically, he’s not especially long or athletic, but he has legit size at over 6-foot-7 with his shoes on, a sturdy base, and increasingly strong and cut upper body. He’s made strides being able to stay in front of more athletic wings on the defensive end, in large part because he’s aware enough to be in the right spots and take the right angles.
Overall, McNeeley may not have the ideal physical measurables of a prototypical five-star prospect, but he is one of the most consistently productive and reliable basketball players in the class.

unforced turnovers by non ball handlers having to handle the ball too much, were an issue all conference season.twocoach wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 10:34 amI think maybe the Samford game is making this seem like a bigger problem than it was. Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
Omoruyi holds down the 5 while Bidunga settles in. Both defensive shot blockers.
Philon gets a 1 year crash course behind DH.
McNeeley and Stojakovic as shooters and potential multi year players.
Kj starts because we are loyal and he does some things very well....but we've got the future with Rooths and Tucker.
Passmore gives us athletic depth.
Hopefully Elmarko (or Delmario as some call him) and Clemence enjoy cheering from the bench and have some cool buckets in blowouts.
It creates a core than can stay together for multiple years. While also having multiple vets. We won't be a 1 seed or win the big 12 next year, but sets us up for huge classes the following 2 years around an established core as DH and Kj ride off into the sunset.

Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
Do we get McNeeley if Furphy returns?
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
all I know is, if we're gonna roll with another year of Hunter/KJ/Dajuan as the big pieces, and expect newcomers to be the ones to make Hunter/KJ/Dajuan look like they suck less than they did this year, well...is it football season yet?
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
Interesting list of portal players KU has had contact with. Some are "no thanks and some are "yes please".
Re: 2024/2025 Lineup
I want us to finally score that diamond in the rough transfer...the archetypal Timberlake or Yesufu or whoever but instead of getting here and looking like they're in over their head they end up actually balling out.
