Re: 2019 NFL Season
Right, Baltimore fans have to be very confused this morning.
Re: 2019 NFL Season
At one point Lamar had thrown something like 10 passes and they had scored on 4 of them.
I don't see that efficiency against teams that give a shit.
Tom Brady with Antonio Brown play the Dolphins next. Yikes.

The NE-MIA spread might set records.
Re: 2019 NFL Season
I'd guess 17.5 since it's on the road but that'd probably be too low.
That said, Brady for some random reason, struggles in Miami ( Pats lost there last season ).

Line was too low.

Re: 2019 NFL Season
Historically, indeed Brady "struggles" in Miami but last season he was 27-43 358 yards 3 TD 0 INT.
Has Miami's defense gotten any better than last season? My guess is no.
Wouldn't shock me if we only see Brady for 3 quarters.
I'm calling for a 42-14 final score.
Re: 2019 NFL Season
I guess I meant the Pats ( and Brady ) struggle there when I wrote Pats lost there last season.
Re: 2019 NFL Season
pdub - That they often do. Looks like the Pats went 1-5 in their last 6 trips to Miami.
Have to figure it's pretty much the Phins Super Bowl when they play the Pats in Miami.

Re: 2019 NFL Season
He was tackled OOB and shoved on his recently crushed shoulder
Re: 2019 NFL Season
Ummmm..... What I am observing is a guy who was tackled well in-bounds and then they landed out of bounds. I guess we see it differently.
If he was tackled out of bounds then 25+ other players must have been tackled out of bounds yesterday.
As far as him being "shoved on his recently crushed shoulder", that's a lot different than being "thrown down after he got up". That's why I asked what you were seeing that I wasn't.
Perhaps you and I might want to place a tad bit of blame on #75 (Erving?) for pushing Ramsey in to Hill?
Nah, why bother. You and I probably see something different in terms of that too.

Both teams look good. Watson needs to make sure to protect himself more.
Re: 2019 NFL Season
That Houston O line is not very good. I will be surprised if Watson plays 16 games.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2019 9:31 pm Both teams look good. Watson needs to make sure to protect himself more.
Re: 2019 NFL Season
This happens from time to time in the NFL, but there sure looks to be a really, really great bumper crop of young quarterbacks. Obviously Mahomes leads the list, but Watson, Mayfield, Jackson, Murray, perhaps Jones and Haskins, etc., and, soon, Tua and Lawrence and possibly Herbert.

Yep, the days of Brady, Manning, Big Ben, Eli, Romo and others are gone and now the days of Mahomes, Watson, Mayfield, Tua, Lawrence and Herbert will be taking over.

Re: 2019 NFL Season
I think the rule changes are helping the young guys. It's a lot easier now to transition to the NFL from a spread-style or air raid offense.
Of course, maybe only 2-3 of the young guys will end up being all-timers if history is any indication.

Re: 2019 NFL Season
I would hold on saying the days of Brady are over.
He could make a run at MVP this season.

Re: 2019 NFL Season
MVP is a stretch. But yes he's still pretty good.
Would like to see what he is like when the scheme just doesn't work out. He can't make plays work on the fly very well, he's very much reliant upon short passes exploiting mismatches.
His yards/attempt are still a bit above average. But he loves Edelman in those 10 yard routes and the backs out of the backfield.
Maybe that changes with Dorsett getting more comfortable and AB getting reps, but I just think that's their offense. Short, quick hitters that exploit mismatches.

Re: 2019 NFL Season
The new guys will be in place soon, but you'd arguably bet on Brady, Rodgers and Brees in a single playoff game over even Mahomes right now today.
Over the course of the season, I'll take Mahomes, but the olds still have the ability to outplay the youngins in single elimination.

Re: 2019 NFL Season
I would take Mahomes over all those guys if all other factors happened to be equal.
Chiefs defense is ( was??? ) a disgrace -- Mahomes almost beat Brady with much better Pats defense -- a defense that held the Rams, a team the Chiefs defense allowed 54 points to, to 3 points in the Super Bowl.
Mahomes with Gargamel Belichick would wreak fire and win 10 Super Bowls in a row.
