Yeah, at least Elijah waited until the Sweet 16 to completely shit himself.
By the way, the last three KU tourney games I saw in person were: KU/VCU, KU/Michigan, and KU/Nova. Fuck me right?
You watched the un-holy trinity of the 2010’s almost. Be thankful you werent at the worst, the Northern Iowa game.
Is there a thread for the toughest-to-take KU defeats in the Bill era? Because I'm solidly Northern Iowa.
All 3 you went to are worse than many fan bases have to take all things considered but man, UNI is an all-timer. I was 16 when 97 Arizona happened so I was younger and more emotional and I took it the worst being a kid, but UNI was awful considering how good that team was.

Agbaji has to be better. Braun has so much talent but no confidence. How many times did he turn down rhythm threes this season? He's way too good to pass on those. In the game tonight he passed on a catch and shoot only to settle for a horrendous looking stepback.
The one he didn't take in the corner was absurd. If that's not the shot you're looking for, exactly what is?
When Braun is cocky as shit, he's good. And, then he will turn into the exact opposite personality in a heartbeat. Makes no sense.
Good call...remember when he dunked on that dude (St. Joe game, maybe) and called him a bitch while still hanging on the rim? That's the Braun I want...

Its no coincidence that our worst tourney loss, worst shooting team, and worst team in the Bill Self era happened during Hanni’s time here.

Would we rather Tyty or Garrett though?
I’d take Garrett back but not as our point guard. We saw how that experiment went and finally ended.
MG was the only one that came to play last night. I would welcome him back next season for sure.

The program is being slowly and methodically dragged down by the never ending investigation.

So would I, I just don’t want him as our point guard. I agree, MG is the guy that played with the most effort not just yesterday but the whole year.
Problem is, he was playing out of position all year long. By putting the ball in his hands, I feel like it took away at what he does best, and that was be the defensive player of the year he was in 19-20, even though he was still pretty good in that area.
I want someone that is going to be a PG at the next level, and MG isn’t it.

While I get that, what’s really stopping kids from coming here? If the hammer drops, transfer.

Because adidas is scared (or refusing) of paying them adequately to come here?

I have problems with Adidas still being a part of the program period. Dumbassed company.

Under contract until 2031.

I'm not the biggest adidas guy in the world either but the amount of money they threw at us compared to what other apparel brands were going to give us was insane.

$14M a year. Nike isn't paying you that. Under Armour is a sinking brand. Don't really have another option.

Is Under Armor really a sinking brand?
I thought they were on the up and up?
Either way, that’s such an awful brand name for anything besides underwear.

Lots of turmoil there in leadership. Things are not what they were in the late 2000s or early 2010s for them. I mean shit, UA and UCLA backed out of a huge deal because UA couldn't really afford it.

This could probably go in The Weave thread as well, but this is what I'm referring to in both threads.
Looking backwards
2020-2021 - 9 losses - 2nd Place Big 12 - Round of 32 upset loss by 32 points (3 v 6)
2019-2020 - Best team in the country - fucking covid
2018-2019 - 10 losses - 3rd Place Big 12 - Round of 32 upset loss by 14 points
2017-2018 - 8 losses - Final Four loss by 16 points (4 v 5)
2016-2017 - Elite 8 upset loss by 14 points (1 v 3)
2015-2016 - Elite 8 upset loss by 5 points (1 v 2)
2014-2015 - 9 losses - Round of 32 upset loss by 13 points (2 v 7)
2013-2014 - 10 losses - Round of 32 upset loss by 3 points (2 v 10)
I'm not saying the sky is falling or that we need to fire Self. I get that most programs will kill for these 8 years, but the standards here are legitimately higher and more demanding.
There has been too many seasons of 8-10 losses and getting upset (and drilled) in the NCAA tournament lately. Some of that is bad luck (tournament is a bitch) but some of that is on our teams for not performing.
Hence, is the Golden Era over?

Average margin of defeat in last 7 NCAA Tournament games = 13.9
Average margin of defeat in last 6 NCAA Tournament games = 15.6
Average margin of defeat in last 4 NCAA Tournament games = 19.0
